F. K. "Peewee" Collier, 77, of Kingsport, went home to be with the Lord late Wednesday night, September 29, 2010, at his home. Peewee served in the U.S. Navy on the attack carrier Hornet during the Korean conflict. He was a Shriner, a Mason, and a member of the Teamsters Union.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Faye Collier; his parents, Newton and Kate Collier; brothers, Garnie, Gale, and Cecil Collier; and a sister, Ruth Evans.
Surviving him are a son, Michael Collier and wife, Joanna, of Kingsport; granddaughter, Olivia Collier; grandson, Spec. 4 Joshua Collier and wife, Rebecca; sisters, Dennie Carpenter, Lois Greene and husband, Henry; brother, Kenneth Collier and wife, Betty; sister-in-law, Ruby Collier; many nieces and nephews; and special friend, Hazel King.
The family will receive friends Sunday from 5 to 8 p.m. at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Kingsport. Services will be conducted on Monday at 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home, with Rev. George Winegar and Capt. Brian West of the Salvation Army officiating.
Interment at Highland Cemetery in Rogersville will follow the service. Serving as pallbearers will be Roger Carpenter, Terry Carpenter, Cliff Evans, Daryl Evans, Chris Collier, and Keith Collier. Military rites will be presented by American Legion Posts #3/265.
