Flem H. Pecktol, Jr., 93, of Kingsport, passed away Saturday, April 6, 2019. Flem was born in Kingsport, where he had lived his entire life. A graduate of Dobyns-Bennett, he was a retired employee of Kingsport Press/Quebecor. Flem was a member of First Baptist Church and a member of Masonic Lodge.
He was preceded in death by his wife Bessie W. Pecktol; parents, Flem H. Pecktol and Eva Fleenor Pecktol; great-grandson, James Nathan Winegar; and six sisters, Manie Miller, Irene Childress, Elizabeth Medlin, Frances Hickam, Rachel Dykes, and Margaret Bedford; and brother, Henry Pectol.
Flem is survived by his daughter, Janie Winegar and husband Mike, of Kingsport; Chuck Pecktol and wife Vicky of Kingsport; and Steve Pecktol and Kim of Dresdon, TN; seven grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; sister, Ruth P. Shankles of Hickory, NC; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Tuesday, April 9, 2019, at First Baptist Church. The funeral service will follow at 12 p.m. with Dr. Marvin Cameron officiating.
Burial will follow at Oak Hill Memorial Park.
The family would like to extend a very special thanks to Monica Hurd and Ann and Danny Rector for the love and care they have shown our Dad the last few months. Also, thank you to Kindred At Home Care and Amedisys In Home Hospice of Kingsport and NHC.
