Forrest Pilgrim

Forrest Dean Pilgrim, III of West Grove, Pennsylvania passed away on Wednesday, November 6, 2019 at Penn Medicine Hospice.  He was 56 years old.

Born in Radford, Virginia, Forrest was the beloved husband of Susan Taylor for 14 years.  Forrest was predeceased by his mother Eileen Gilliam (Pilgrim) Powers.  In addition to his father, Forrest “Fritz” Dean Pilgrim, Jr., and stepmother Patsy Pilgrim, Forrest is survived by and was the brother of Cheri Pilgrim Hereford (Dr. John), Byron Pilgrim (Tammy), Cammie Moore (David), Jonathan Maxwell Powers and David Kent Powers; uncle to many special nieces and nephews; son-in-law of Allen and Frances Taylor and brother-in-law of Jean Warnock (Nigel).

Forrest grew up in Kingsport, Tennessee and as a young boy he thought Star Trek was real and only accepted the best and brightest.  This fueled his interest in science and engineering.  He got his Chemical Engineering degree at University of Tennessee and continued to be a Vols fan for life often decking out in bright Orange on Saturdays.  He was also proud when he got his Masters in Chemical Engineering at University of Pennsylvania.  He enjoyed his career at the Naval Surface Warfare Center first in Philadelphia Navy yard and later at the Carderock division.

Forrest was a quiet and kind man, and often rescued stray cats which became his pets. His good deed in helping strays was rewarded as his cats Ginger and Grantham gave him much comfort in the final months of his life.

Forrest also enjoyed playing golf, the game of bridge (where he achieved bronze life master), sampling hoppy beers with his friends and trying to find the perfect buffalo wing.
