Frances Scott Bivins, 89, of Charlotte, NC, died Tuesday March 2, 2010 at The Wexford House in Kingsport. Born in Greensboro, NC, she had resided in Charlotte most of her life. She was a UNC, Greensboro, graduate and taught elementary school in Silver City, Albermarle, and Charlotte for many years.
Mrs. Bivins was preceded in death by her husband, James D. Bivins, Jr.
She is survived by a daughter, Danielle Bivins Treece and husband Lanny of Kingsport; son, James D. Bivins, III, of Charlotte, NC; three grandsons, Mark Treece and wife Ann, Ben Treece and wife Jennifer, and John Treece and wife Crystal; one great-granddaughter, Susanna Joy Treece; the Scott Sisters, Cora Leigh Edge of Moyock, NC, Dorothy Darnell of Greensboro, NC, Lorraine Folwell of Winston-Salem, NC, Emma Lou Moore and husband Sam of Salisbury, NC, and Joann Taylor and husband John of Greensboro, NC; thirteen nieces and nephews; and lifelong friend, Helen Fondren Lingle, of Greensboro.
The family will receive friends on Sunday from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Commonwealth United Methodist Church in Charlotte, NC.
Funeral services will be held on Sunday at 2:00 p.m. at Commonwealth United Methodist Church with Rev. Peggy Bridgers officiating. Burial will follow the funeral in Evergreen City Cemetery. Nephews of Mrs. Bivins will serve as pallbearers.
