Frances J. Groseclose, 94, of Kingsport, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 24, 2014 at Wellington Place, surrounded by her family. Born in Roanoke, Virginia on June 25, 1920, a daughter of the late Charlie B. and Ila Lee Williams James, she had resided in this area since 1975. She was a homemaker and a member of Colonial Heights Presbyterian Church, serving on several committees at the church, and volunteered with Meals on Wheels.
She will be remembered as a loving and devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend who enjoyed gardening.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 34 years, William C. "Bill" Groseclose.
Frances is survived by her twin daughters, Patty Pendleton and husband, Larry, and Peggy Groseclose, both of Kingsport; two grandchildren, Mark Pendleton and wife, Michele, and Brad Pendleton and wife, Melissa; 1 great-granddaughter, Morgan Pendleton; 3 great-grandsons, Colin, Aaron and Braden Pendleton; 1st cousin, Angela Williams; and nephew, Mark Groseclose.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Wellington Place for their loving care.
The family will receive friends on Thursday from 5-7:00 pm at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Kingsport.
A graveside service will be conducted on Friday at 1:00 pm at Oak Hill Memorial Park with The Rev. Dr. David A. Cagle and Rev. Sharon H. Amstutz officiating.
Those wishing may make memorial contributions to the organization of the donor's choice.
