Frances Josephine Head Hensley departed this life on September 17, 2011, at the age of 83.
Born & raised in Sullivan County, she spent the majority of her life in Kingsport. Before marriage & motherhood, she was employed at Leeper's Grocery & made many life-long friends there. She was a faithful member of Macedonia Freewill Baptist Church for almost 40 years and a born-again Christian for more than 70 years. She had a deep love for everyone. She never met a stranger
She was preceded in death by her parents, Jessee & Monnie Head; husband, Arnold Hensley; son, Scott Hensley; an infant daughter; and sisters, Lakie Head, Drucella Head and Vivian Williamson.
Survivors are her sister, Elva Cruz; sons, Jerry Donna Hensley and Lester Melody Hensley; daughters, Lakie Hensley and Sandra Nadeau; grandchildren, Angela Josh Grimsley, Brandon Katrina Minton, Nathan Megan Hensley, Cory Danielle Nadeau & Carson Nadeau; great-grandchildren, Jacob & Andrew Franklin, Hunter & Cassandra Minton & Tucker Nadeau; and several cousins, nieces, nephews & friends.
Frances was happiest when she could give to others, so in lieu of flowers or food, the family requests donations be made to Meals on Wheels, 301 Louis St., Kingsport TN 37660; Samaritan's Purse, PO Box 240417, Charlotte NC 28224; the Kingsport Public Library, 400 Broad Street, Kingsport TN 37660; or the charity of your choice.
The family extends a special thanks to Amedisys Hospice, especially Brook, for all their kindness & support, and to all the friends & loved ones who kept her in their hearts & prayers.
The family will receive friends at Hamlett-Dobson, Kingsport, on Tuesday, September 20, 2011, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery, Good Shepherd Garden at 3 p.m.
