Frances G (Mimi) Sloan passed away peacefully after a very full and blessed life. She was an amazing woman who will be missed dearly by her family. She had a meaningful career in Social Work focusing her efforts in adoption processes with the Holston Methodist Children’s Home. She was also a devoted member of Colonial Heights Christian Church.
Mimi was preceded in death by her husband, Cephas H. Sloan Sr.; son, Cephas H. Sloan Jr.; and brother and sister-in-law, Audley Gilliam and Wanda Gilliam.
She is survived by her son, John W. Sloan and wife Lisa; grandchildren, Carolyn A. Floch and husband, Aaron, Jennifer R. Prewitt and husband, Matthew, Mary K. Sloan and significant other, John Hobbs, Scherry Bryant and husband, Rob, Franci Sloan-Leu and husband, Patrick, Cephas Sloan III and wife, Lyndsey, and James H. Sloan; great-grandchildren, Tristan Chapman, Adelyn Floch, Libby Leu, Sadie Prewitt, Wendell Floch, Bobby Bryant, Emily Bryant and 2 more on the way.
The family will receive friends from 4-6:00 pm on Thursday, February 20, 2020 at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Kingsport. The funeral service will follow at 6:00 pm with Rev. Rusty Taylor officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Holston Home for Children, P.O. Box 188, Greeneville, TN 37743.
The entombment service will be held at 10:00 am on Friday at Oak Hill Memorial Park Mausoleum.
