Frank Brandon, 87, of Kingsport, formerly of Fall Branch, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family, Saturday, April 20, 2013 at Holston Manor.
Born in Greene County, TN on August 28, 1925, he was a son of the late Roy and Grace Brandon. He lived in Fall Branch most of his life. Frank was a welder having retired from Smith Mechanical in 1982.
Mr. Brandon was a member at Bethany Free Will Baptist Church. He also attended Lynn Garden Baptist Church for many years.
Frank was a veteran of World War II having served in the U. S.
He will be remembered as a loving and devoted husband, dad, granddaddy, brother and friend who loved farming, gardening and homemade ice cream.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his first wife, Betty Brandon; brothers, Bill Brandon, Mayfield Brandon, and Dallas Brandon; and sister, Martha Rector. Navy. He was a member of the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign War.
Surviving are his wife of 18 years, Loretta Rogers Hughes Brandon of the home; two daughters, Janis Williams and husband Larry of El Paso, TX and Linda Dotson and husband Claude of Nebo, NC; three granddaughters, Leigh Anne Burleson and husband Scott of Marion, NC, Lisa Wyatt and husband Chad of Las Cruces, New Mexico, and Cindy Williams of El Paso, TX; three great-grandchildren, Scotty and Tyler Burleson of Marion, NC, and Ariel Wyatt of Las Cruces, New Mexico; one sister, Hattie Morgan of Virginia, Minnesota; one brother, Carl Gilbert and wife Charlotte of Morristown, TN; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Robert and Lena Barnes and Robert and Patsye Rogers; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends on Monday from 5 to 7 p.m. at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Kingsport. Services will follow at 7 p.m. with the Rev. Carl Strickler and the Rev. John Coats officiating. Special music will be provided by Steve Fletcher.
Graveside services will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday at Bethany Freewill Baptist Church Cemetery with military honors accorded by The American Legion Hammond Post #3 and Gate City Post # 265. Pallbearers will be selected from friends of the family. Family and friends will meet at the funeral home by 10:15 a.m. Tuesday and then proceed to the cemetery.
