Frank M. "Scroochie" Felts

Frank Meredith Scroochie Felts, 87, of Chuckey, went home to be with his Lord and Savior at his residence early Monday morning, August 30, 2010, following a brief illness.

He was born on December 6, 1922, in Johnson City, Tennessee, the son of the late James Felts and Sallie Lowery Felts. He was employed for 32 years by Eastman Kodak Company, and lived most of his life in Fall Branch, Tennessee.

He accepted his Lord at a little Baptist church in Jonesborough, Tennessee. He loved his Lord, and did many kind deeds for the needy, especially children. He did these kind acts and never spoke about them. He will be most remembered by his family, co-workers, and friends for his humor and kind acts of love. He loved to make people smile and laugh. He was a very precious husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, who will be sadly missed. His children and grandchildren have many fond memories from the stories he told and the songs he sang as he rocked them and spoiled them with his collection of candy.

In addition to his parents, his wife, Blanche Felts; son, Jerry Felts; granddaughter, Tammy McNew; brothers, Jess, Jim, and George Felts; sisters, Mae Godsey, Edith Feathers, Thelma Hawkins, and Grace Balentine preceded him in death.

Survivors include son, Terry Felts, Fall Branch; three daughters, Shirley Hall and husband, Jerry, Kingsport, Janeene McNew and husband, James, Fall Branch, Leisa Felts, Fall Branch; grandchildren, David Hall and wife, Renee, Knoxville, Amy Skeen and husband, Andy, Knoxville, Joe Felts, Pennsylvania, Lori Loftis and husband, Arnold, Baileyton, Kim Boose and husband, Chuck, Indiana, Jennifer Hensley and husband, Gary, Kingsport, and Amanda Felts, Kingsport. He is also survived by fourteen great-grandchildren. He will be missed by his special dog, Cookie.

The family will receive friends on Thursday evening from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Fall Branch Chapel of Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Homes. Services will follow at 8:00, with Rev. Jerry Hall, Frank's son-in-law, officiating.

Graveside services will be conducted on Friday at 1:00 p.m. at Lovelace Baptist Church Cemetery, Fall Branch. Joe Felts, David Hall, James McNew, Arnold Loftis, Andy Skeen, Gary Hensley, Chuck Boose, and Lonnie Foxx will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Jack McCrary, Donnie Foxx, Stanley Foxx, and Gary Asbury.

Memorial contributions in Frank's honor may be made to Lovelace Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, c/o E. B. Moore, 102 Horton Highway, Fall Branch, TN 37656.
