Frank H. Kelley, 91, of Kingsport, went home to be with the Lord Wednesday, January 7, 2009, at Indian Path Medical Center.
Mr. Kelley was born in St. Paul, Virginia. He worked for 18 years at Tennessee Eastman Company and then as a salesman for Abernathy-Thomas Engineering. He was an active member and deacon of First Baptist Church in Kingsport. He served as a volunteer for a variety of community organizations including the Kingsport Chamber of Commerce, the Renaissance Senior Center, Fun Fest, the Shepherd's Center, Meals-On-Wheels, and Kingsport Community Ministry Center. He was also a member of the Shriners, Masons, and United Commercial Travelers.
His gracious and loving spirit touched all who knew him, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who he adored. His hobbies included golf, woodworking, and relating stories from his life.
Surviving are his wife of 69 years, Lovey; three sons, Allan and wife Mary Alice of Kingsport, Jerry Lynn and wife Janice of Knoxville, Phil and wife Kathy of Asheville, NC; seven grandchildren, Alice Corker and husband Cliff, Tricia Lancor and husband David, Jerry L. and wife Jill, Jason , Julie Ebert and husband Paul, Brooke Magee and husband Jeremy, Summer; five great-grandchildren, John Lewis Corker, Leland Corker, Sam Lancor, Jennifer Kelley, Joseph Ebert; two sisters, Pauline Minton, Georgia McLain of Kingsport; and one brother, Gene Kelley of Kingsport.
A family graveside service will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. Saturday at Oak Hill Memorial Park. Honorary pallbearers will be sons-in-law, grandsons-in-law, and Members of the Koinonia Sunday School Class.
A memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church with Dr. Marvin Cameron and Dr. Ron Davis officiating. The family will receive friends at the church immediately following the memorial service.
