Frank Papp, 64, of Kingsport, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, July 14, 2019 at his residence. Born in Trenton, NJ on September 25, 1954, a son of Eileen Papp of Groveville, NJ, and the late Frank Papp Sr., he had resided in this area for the last 13 years, moving from Boyton Beach, FL. He graduated from Steinert High School in 1971 and studied business in Hamilton, NJ at the College of New Jersey. He married Kathy Hylton on March 23, 1991 in Boyton Beach, FL.
Frank worked as an air traffic controller for the USFAA from 1985 until 2006. Frank was a member of NATCA, serving as treasurer. From 2011 until 2018 he worked for Midwest ATC in Kabul Afghanistan. He worked in Oklahoma City for SIAC until his death.
He will be remembered as a loving and devoted husband, dad, grandfather, brother and friend who loved playing guitar, baseball and watching racing with Jeff Gordon. Frank loved going to church, was always funny, and had a willingness to help anyone he could.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to their daughter, Renee, and to Suncrest Hospice, Dr. Holly Berndt, Dr. Christopher Neglia, and their staff.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his brother, Steven Papp.
Survivors include his wife of 28 years, Kathy Papp; daughter, Renee Johnson and son, Mark Jr. of Beaufort, GA; sons, Frankie Papp of Seattle, WA, Patrick McDonald of Kingsport, and John Papp and wife, Ashley of Newport News, VA; mother, Eileen Papp of Groveville, NJ; brother, Walter Papp of Bordentown, NJ; 2 nephews, Eric and Christopher; special friends, Don Carver, Steve Lasley, Kem Shifflet, cousin Billy, and many others from Miami Center and Oklahoma Institute, Kabul Afghanistan.
A Celebration of Life will conducted at 11:00 am on Friday at Kingsport First Assembly with Pastor Paul Wright officiating. The family will receive friends at the church following the service.
In lieu of flowers, those wishing may make memorial contributions to Kingsport First Assembly, 2213 Brandon Lane, Kingsport, TN 37660, or to the cancer research center of one’s choice.
