Frankie M. Hicks

"It is God's amazing grace that's guided me through this life and His amazing grace will lead me home."

Frankie M. Hicks, age 84, of Kingsport, went home to be with her heavenly Father at 11:40 pm on Sunday, May 14, 2017 at her home. She was born in Blackwater, VA, a daughter of the late Marshall and Stella Collingsworth, and had lived in Kingsport the majority of her life. Frankie retired from Holston Valley Hospital after 40 years of service and was a member of Living Water Freewill Baptist Church where she had served as Sunday School secretary for several years.

Frankie opened her heart and home to all she loved. She was an honorable wife, sacrificing mother and grandmother. She gave all she had through every trial and made life sweeter because of her smile.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband, Frank W. Hicks; brothers, Thomas J., Ballard, Lloyd, Jerry and Brad Collingsworth; infant sister, Martha Pearl ; sister, Rita Sue Pearcy; and daughter-in-law, Sharon Lynn Hicks.

Left to cherish her memory are her children, Charles Wayne Hicks, Ronnie and Rhonda Hicks of Ft. Blackmore, VA, Glenn W. and Donna Hicks, Larry Thomas Hicks, Anita Hicks and fiancé, Ken Applegate of Port Richey, FL; ten grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Opal Bishop, Delilah Way and Madge Bledsoe (C.P.); brother, Paul Collingsworth and wife Carol; and lots of nieces and nephews, cousins and many cherished friends.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 6-8:00 pm at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Kingsport. The funeral service will be conducted on Thursday at 1:00 pm in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Mark Ball and Pastor Glen Hicks officiating. Burial will follow in Old Kingsport Presbyterian Church Cemetery.
