Fred Winston Ketron, 83, of Kingsport, passed away into the loving arms of his Savior, Jesus Christ, Tuesday night, October 28, 2008 at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center after a brief illness.
Born in Sullivan County, TN on December 8, 1924, Fred was the son of the late Andrew E. Ketron and Anna Blanche Ketron.
Mr. Ketron was a veteran of World War II serving in the U. S. Navy in the Pacific Theater and a retired employee of the U. S. Postal Service in Kingsport after many years of service. He was a faithful member of Kingsley United Methodist Church.
Mr. Ketron was a loving husband, father, and grandfather who loved the Lord, his family, friends, his church family, and the Bloomingdale Community.
In addition to his parents, his sister, Ruth Ketron Gibson preceded him in death.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Violet Akard Ketron, Kingsport; two daughters and sons-in-law, Linda and Tony Jackson, Church Hill and Elizabeth "Betsy" and Jim Pease, Clinton, TN; two granddaughters, Dr. Juli Jackson and fiancé Preston McCary and Erin Jackson Wallen and husband Matthew; and two brothers, Jack Ketron and wife Mary, Johnson City and Frank H. Ketron Sr. and wife Betty, Kingsport.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Homes, Kingsport. Services will follow at 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home with Rev. Joel H. Campbell officiating.
Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at East Lawn Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Frank Ketron Jr., Don Ketron, Roy Foulk, Larry Ketron, Jack Breeding, Jerry Lawson, and J. D. Davis.
