Fred Wayne Quillen

Fred Wayne Quillen , 75, of Kingsport, passed away Tuesday morning, September 11, 2012, at Indian Path Medical Center following a lengthy illness. He was born in Scott County, Virginia, and had resided most of his life in Kingsport. Wayne served in the United States Army. He retired from the work force at an early age due to poor health. Wayne really missed drinking coffee and seeing his buddies at the Waffle House on Stone Drive.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Roy Pridemore Quillen and Celia Hartsock Quillen; sister, June Quillen; brothers, Roy Denver Quillen and Harold Glen Quillen.

Wayne is survived by his sister, Gladys Justice of Mt. Carmel; sisters-in-law, Barbara Quillen of Kingsport and Ann Quillen of Johnson City; several nephews.

The family wishes to extend a special thanks to his loyal childhood friend, Mickey Repass, good buddy, Jerry Jennings, and special helpers, Lisa and Christine. Thanks to all of them, he was able to remain at home as he wanted until his final days.

Graveside services will be conducted on Friday, September 14, 2012, at 11:00 a.m. at Hermon United Methodist Church Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to Hermon United Methodist Church, c/o Charlotte Hartgrove, 305 Hedge Dr, Kingsport TN 37660.
