Freda Pauline Barnes, 76, of Kingsport went to be with Jesus on Friday, November 28, 2008 at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center after an extended illness.
She worked for several years at Dobyns Taylor and then at Holston Valley Medical Center as a switchboard operator.
Mrs. Barnes was a member of West Colonial Hills Baptist Church. She loved the Lord and praised Jesus until her last breathe. Mrs. Barnes was a very loving wife, mother, and grandmother and was a "mother" to many.
Preceding her in death were her father and mother, Palmer G. and Martha I. Jones; two brothers, Denzil Jones and P. G. Jones Jr.; and two sisters, Helen Fulkerson and Geneva Cox.
She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Billy Wayne Barnes of the home; two daughters, Karen Leimkuhler of Colonial Heights and Damaris Yost and husband Dickie of Winchester, VA; three grandchildren, Hayden and Olivia Leimkuhler and their father, Marty Leimkuhler, and Molly Yost; three sisters, Retha Pugh of Jonesborough, Glenda Summey and Sharen Long, both of Kingsport; two brothers, Bill Jones and Mike Jones, both of Kingsport; and several nieces and nephews.
Special thanks to the doctors and nursing staff of Wilcox Hall W-3 and Wellmont Hospice.
The family will receive friends from 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday at West Colonial Hills Baptist Church. Services will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday at the church with Rev. Jerry Hall and Pastor Wes Rankin officiating.
Interment will follow at Logan's Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Hayden Leimkuhler, Marty Leimkuhler, Jack Barron, Joel Jones, Eddie Ferguson, and Mark Summey.
Honorary pallbearers will be Junior Dockery and Bill Jones.
