Freddie Pierce, 68, Chuckey, passed away peacefully Tuesday morning, June 18, 2013, surrounded by his family at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center. Born in Greene County, TN on April 4, 1945, son of the late George E. and Mavis Jackson Pierce, he had lived in this area his entire life.

He graduated in 1963 from North Greene High School in the first graduating class. Freddie retired from Philips Electronics after 35 years of service. Freddie was a superintendent, served as long-standing Deacon, was on the board of directors and was a member of the cemetery committee and Sunday School teacher at Bethany Freewill Baptist Church. He was on the Board of Directors for the Northern Greene County United in Love Ministries.

Freddie was a loving and devoted husband, dad, papaw Freddie, brother and friend who loved wood carving and anything involved with his church and family.

A special thank you to Dr. Charles Montgomery, 6th Floor Staff, Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center, 3rd Floor Staff, Wilcox Hall, and Amedisys Hospice Care.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his sister, Donna Pierce, several aunts and uncles and sister-in-law, Vicki Pierce.

Freddie is survived by his wife of 45 years, Susan Rutledge Pierce; sons, Brad Pierce of Chuckey, and Wes Pierce and wife, Cindy of Greeneville; granddaughter, Emma Daisy Pierce (the love of his life); siblings, Gary Pierce of Chuckey and Joan Tullock and husband, Cletus, Chuckey; aunt, Margarite Jackson Noble of Montana; mother-in-law, Mary E. Rutledge, Kingsport, TN; brothers and sisters-in-law, Rex and Laveda Jaynes, Kingsport, TN ; and Greg and Sandy Smith, Weber City, VA; and several nieces and nephews, several great-nieces, great-nephews and cousins.

The family will receive friends on Thursday from 4-7:00 pm at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Fall Branch. Funeral services will follow at 7:00 pm in the Chapel with Rev. Donnie Bailey and Rev. Roger Free officiating. Special music will be provided by Janet Shipley and Dawn Wright.

Graveside services will be conducted on Friday at 1:00 pm at Bethany Freewill Baptist Church Cemetery. Those attending the committal services are asked to assemble at the Funeral Home by 12:15 pm and then proceed to the cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Lynn Johnson, Tim White, Mike Durham, Phil Durham, Ronnie Bledsoe, Randall Dickerson, Doug Gouge, Roger Jackson, Dommie Jackson and Eric Pierce. Honorary pallbearers will be David Maltsburger, Bobby Shipley, Cletus Tullock Roger Dykes, Bill Reed, George Darling, Johnnie Armstrong, Renaissance Woodcarvers and the Men's Class of Bethany Freewill Baptist Church.
