Frederick Larue Conrad, 76, Kingsport, died on Tuesday, January 22, 2013 surrounded by his wife of 55 years and his companion, Maxwell. Fred received his Bachelor's Degree from Dickenson College in Carlisle, PA and his Master's in Economics from Duke University. He worked for Tennessee Eastman for 36 years holding many positions, including Chief Economist. Fred owned and operated Unique Antiques for over 30 years. He was a past president of Colonial Heights Service Club, coached youth sports in Colonial Heights, and was a member of Colonial Heights Presbyterian Church for over 50 years.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Catherine Meiser Conrad, father, Samuel P. Conrad, one sister and three brothers.
Fred is survived by his wife, Patricia Conrad; four sons, Frederick L. Conrad, Jr. and wife, Louise of Knoxville, TN, Robert Hoyle Conrad and wife, Mikki of Baku, Azerbajan, Michael James Conrad and wife, Becky of Huntsville, AL, and Scott Alan Conrad and wife, Shari of Menlo, CA; thirteen grandchildren, Louise "Pat" Conrad Hargis and husband, David, Frederick "Trip" Conrad, III, John Stites Conrad, Robert H. Conrad, Jr., Matthew Charles Conrad, Allison Michele Conrad, Katy Conrad Millard and husband, Daniel, Morgan Diane Conrad, Natalie Patricia Conrad, Michael James Conrad, Jr., Jackson David Conrad, Kevin Conrad and Kyle Conrad; sister, Pauline Conrad Burgess; and several beloved nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, February 2nd at 2:00 p.m. at Colonial Heights Presbyterian Church with Pastor Tom Phelps officiating. The family will receive friends following the service.
