Gail Phlegar Blankenship, 60, beloved soulmate to David, devoted mother to Christopher and stepmother to Laura, loving sister to Lisa, Nana to Stephanie and Thad, and aunt to Beau, died February 15, 2010, after a long struggle with breast cancer.
Gail had lived in Kingsport for many years, and was a member of First Presbyterian Church.
Surviving are her husband, David W. Blankenship, of Kingsport; son, Carroll Christopher Raines, III, who will graduate law school in May in Lansing, Michigan, and his fiancée, Julie Sayers; stepdaughter, Dr. Laura Blankenship and her husband, Dr. Douglas S. Blank, Havertown, PA; grandchildren, Stephanie and Thad Blank; sister, Lisa Walters and husband, Greg, of Kingsport; and nephew Beau Frederick Madèr, stationed in Iraq, and his wife, Rachel, of Jonesborough.
A Celebration Service in honor of Gail's life will be conducted at First Presbyterian Church on Saturday at 1:00 p.m. with the Rev. Dr. David A. Cagle officiating. The family will receive friends at the church following the service.
