Gale Simpson, 72, Kingsport, went home to meet his Lord on Wednesday, January 30, 2013 at his home while surrounded by his family.
Born in Hawkins County, TN, a son of the late Charles A. and Dorothy L. Goad Simpson, he has resided in this area his entire life.
Gale was a retired over-the-road driver for Roy B. Moore and a member of New Harvest Fellowship Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Jacqueline; and two sisters, Virginia Surcey and Ruth Crigger.
He is survived by his wife, Wilma Simpson of the home; daughters, Pamela Sue Castle and husband Mike and Donna Gail Schnepp and husband David; sons, Gregory Simpson and wife Mary, Tommy Simpson and wife Debbie, Scott Simpson and wife Jennifer, Christopher Simpson, and Eric Simpson; stepdaughter, Kim DeBoard; fifteen grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; sisters, Ilene Huffman and husband Bruce, Barbara Brummitt, Virgil M. Jobe, Lillian Sexton, and Marsalene Hooven; brothers, George A. Simpson and wife Brenda and Terry K. Simpson and wife Terri; several nieces and nephews; and a special cousin, Agnes Thompson and husband Sid. Gale is also survived by sisters-in-law, Evelyn Helton, Shirley McCravey, Rita Hurst and Loretta Dalton; brothers-in-law, Johnny Catron and Larry Catron; and his loving pets.
Calling hours are from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Kingsport and also at the home of Gregory A. Simpson, 3224 Capri Street, Kingsport.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at Hamlett-Dobson with Dr. T. K. Simpson Senior Pastor and Associate Pastor David Glass officiating. Special music will be provided by Loretta Dalton and Amy Pace.
Burial will follow at East Lawn Memorial Park.
Pallbearers will be David Bishop, Ricky Burchfield, Nick Metcalf, Dylan Simpson, James Simpson, Mikie Fisher, Cody Simpson, Anthony Poland, and Shane Simpson.
Honorary pallbearers will be Bruce Huffman, Johnny White, Jerry McCravey, Christian Simpson, and Sid Thompson.
The family asks that in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to the building fund at New Harvest Fellowship Church, 617 Donelson Drive, Kingsport, TN 37660.
