Garfield Gardner

Garfield Gardner, 86, was born in Mitchell County, NC, on January 13, 1922, and went to be with the Lord in Kingsport on December 6, 2008.

He served his country in the U.S. Army, and was employed as an independent carpet mechanic for 38 years.

He was preceded in death by his beloved son, Gary; his parents, Dee and Sally Gardner; five sisters, and three brothers.

Surviving family include his wife, Mary; four sons, Larry and wife Gail, James and wife Brenda, Bob and wife Debbie, Phil and wife Pam; eleven grandchildren, ten great grandchildren; a sister Lidia Hoskins and husband Troy, and a number of nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday from noon until 2:00 at Hamlett Dobson Funeral Home, Kingsport. Services will be conducted at 2:00 with Pastor Brad Dennison officiating. Military graveside rites will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery, conducted by American Legion Post 3/625.

Serving as pallbearers will be Jason Gardner, Travis Gardner, Don Alder, Mark Hammonds, Matt Hammonds, and Steve Gardner.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be given to the family.
