Garry Stephen Luttrell

Garry Stephen Luttrell, 72, of Kingsport, went to be with the Lord on Thursday morning, December 28, 2017 at his home. Born in Knoxville, TN, he had resided in Kingsport since 1967. He was a graduate of the University of Tennessee with a degree in Chemical Engineering and was as member of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers. Garry retired from Tennessee Eastman Company with 32 years of service. He was a member of First Baptist Church, chairman of the Sound Booth Committee, attended The Pathfinders Sunday School Class and had served as a Deacon. Garry was an avid hiker and photographer and a member of Eastman Hiking Club. He loved tennis, golf, traveling and was a huge fan of UT Athletics. Garry absolutely loved playing with his fourteen grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Millard and Ruby Luttrell, and his brother, Dr. Arvell Luttrell.

Garry is survived by his wife of 51 years, Janice E. Luttrell; daughter, Missy Luttrell Ruffing and husband, Boone of Huntsville, AL; 2 sons, Scott Luttrell and wife, Gretchen of Charlotte, NC, and Billy Luttrell and wife, Joy of Abaco, Bahamas; 14 grandchildren, Chase, Ryan, and Macy Ruffing, Gillian, Greyson and Peyton Luttrell, Savannah, Holland, Kassie, Katie, Joshua, Sophia, Zeke and Eli Luttrell; sister, Judy Akin and husband, Tom of Knoxville; brother, John Luttrell of Knoxville; sister-in-law, Kay Luttrell; several nieces and nephews; and caregiver Glenda Pickle.

A memorial service will be held on Sunday at 2:00 pm at First Baptist Church with Dr. Marvin Cameron officiating. The family will receive friends at the church following the service.
