Gary J. Adkins

Gary J. Adkins, 59, of Kingsport, went to be with Jesus unexpectedly on Thursday evening, October 31, 2019 at Holston Valley Medical Center. Born in York, PA on October 23, 1960, a son of the late Frank and Betty Adkins, he had resided in this area most of his life.  He had been employed at Holston Glass and was a member of Gunnings Baptist Church.  He was in the Rock of Ages prison ministry.  Gary will be remembered as a loving and devoted husband, father, brother and friend who loved old cars, guns and fishing.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Casey Adkins, and 1 brother.

Gary is survived by his loving wife and best friend of 39 years, Cathy Adkins; and loving daughter, April Parsons of Kingsport; special little buddy, great-niece, Maysie Paige White; siblings, Danny Adkins, Chris Adkins, Penny Adkins and Kim Dougherty, all of Kingsport; several nieces and nephews; special sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Newana and Tony Page; and mother-in-law and father-in-law, Monnie and William Collins.

The family will receive friends from 12:30-2:30 pm on Sunday, November 3, 2019 at Gunnings Baptist Church. The funeral service will follow at 2:30 pm with Pastor Bob Ferguson officiating. Burial will follow in Highland Church Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Gilbert Bedwell, Lawrence Carter, Tony Page, Charles Casey, John Keplinger and Joseph Adkins.  Honorary pallbearers will be employees at Holston Glass.
