Gary Kay Babb, 73, of Church Hill, passed away March 4, 2015 at Welmont - Holston Valley Medical Center. Kay worked about 11 years for the City of Kingsport before working many years for Loven Ready - Mix.
Kay was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and brother. His grandchildren were the light of his life.
Kay's love of music was lifelong. At the age of 14, he learned to pick guitar with his dad. Later many other instruments would follow.
Kay was preceded in death by his wife, Wanda "Jane" Babb; daughter: Gloria Christine Babb Pugh; parents, Elva Hall Babb and William A. "Will" Babb; sisters: Joyce Ann Bowser, Angela "Darlene" Bruner, Glenna Colleen Wheat, and Brenda Gay Babb; brothers, Lucian "Luke" Babb, Phillip Babb, Perry Babb, and Leon Babb; step-granddaughter: Brittany Gilliam.
He is survived by his sisters: Ruth Arnold and husband Virgil, Marlene Manis and husband Morrison, Marcella Cavin and husband Raymond; brother: Ira Jackson "Jack" Babb, Sr.; step-son, Kenneth E. Gilliam; step-grandson, Kenneth "Lynn" Gilliam; step-granddaughter, Ashley Gilliam; step-great-granddaughter, Haley Gilliam; step-great-grandson, Kenny K. Gilliam; sisters-in-law, Bonnie Babb and Clenis Babb; brothers-in-law, Donald "Don" Bowser and Ricky Wheat; caregivers, Tonia and William "Willie" Bear; special friend, George West; several nieces and nephews, all of Kingsport.
The family would like to extend a special "Thank You" to his caregivers, Willie and Tonia Bear and the staff of Holston Valley Medical Center.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, March 8, 2015 from 1:00 to 3:00 pm at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Kingsport.
