Gary F. Bowery

Gary F. Bowery, 67, passed away unexpectedly at his home, Friday, May 31, 2013.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred Bowery and Iva G. Bowery.

Gary is survived by his wife of 48 years, Judy Allen Bowery of Kingsport; son, Tony Bowery (Tina) of Kingsport; daughter, Britt Hensley (Jimmy) of Kingsport; four grandchildren, Grace and Chase Bowery and McCoy and Gage Hensley; two sisters, Bobbie Gilbert and Wilma Martin (Hubert); one brother, Phillip Bowery (Jane); and several nieces and nephews.

Gary resided in the Fordtown Community of Sullivan County all of his life. He retired from the U.S. Postal Service after twenty-nine years of service.

He had a lifelong love of baseball and basketball and a passion for farming. He was most proud of his children and grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Monday, June 3, 2013, at Hamlett-Dobson, Kingsport. The funeral service will follow at 7:00 p.m. with Rev. Susan Lankford officiating.

Graveside services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, June 4, 2013, at TriCities Memory Gardens. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Kendricks Creek United Methodist Church Building Fund.
