Gary Dwight Light

Gary Dwight Light, 71, of Kingsport, TN, passed away on Thursday, September 21, 2017, at his home in Kingsport after a brief illness.

He was preceded in death by his father, Allie C. Light.

Born April 1, 1946, Gary was a loving son, husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. He was a 1965 graduate of Sullivan High School where he played basketball. He started work at Mead Paper company of Kingsport on October 4, 1965, and worked for 51 years, retiring from Domtar Paper on June 5, 2017.

He is survived by his loving wife of 41 years, Carolyn Callie Light; sons, Jonathan Boyd Light and wife, Becky, Joshua Wesley Bays Light and wife, Becky, and Caylon Auburn Light and wife, Keri; mother, Juanita Q. Light; granddaughters, Tresica Light Colvin and husband, Jimmy, and Junia Elizabeth Light; five great-grandchildren, Rodney, Nicholas, Kyle, Lorelai, and Emmett Colvin; sisters, Beverly Light and husband, Homer, and Bernice Darnell and husband, Gary; brothers, Bobby Light and wife, Carolyn, and Wayne Light and wife, Brenda; and numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 24, 2017, at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Kingsport.

Burial will follow at the Light Cemetery located at 398 Light Cemetery Road off Beech Creek Road.
