Gary Lee Forester

Gary Lee Forester, born February 21, 1949 to John and Lou Forester, went home to his Heavenly Father on February 15, 2023 after a long battle with several health issues. 

Gary served our country in Vietnam with the Navy Mobile Riverine Force on the Mekong Delta and was awarded a combat ribbon. He was a beautiful artist, car enthusiast and treasured the small things in life. He was full of dad jokes, stories and encouragement.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John Forester and Lou Artie Davenport Forester; sister, Linda Faye Forester Hite; ex-wife and friend, Vicky Harward; and grandson, Austin Forester.

Left to cherish Gary’s memory are his daughters, Rhonda “Buffy” Forester, Angela “Missy” Campbell; son, Johnathan Shane Forster; granddaughters, Josey Braswell, Cassi Campbell Knight, Krista Campbell and Cayenne Campbell; grandson, Philip Forester; brothers, Carl and Steve Forester; brother-in-law, Bob Hite; aunt, LaVaugh Everhart; mothers of his children, Margaret 'Marty' Forester and Patty New Wetzel and several great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.

A graveside military service will take place at 2:00 pm on Saturday, February 25, 2023 at Fairview Cemetery in Jonesborough.
