Gary James Collins

Gary James Collins, 67, Kingsport, passed away on September 6, 2017, following a battle with T Cell Lymphoma. He was of the Baptist faith, having been a member of State Line Baptist Church. He graduated from Ketron High School in 1967. He retired from Eastman Chemical Company in 2001 and Averitt Express in 2015.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Margaret J. Collins; his father, James Collins; and his daughter, Micah Collins in 1987.

Gary is survived by his sweetheart, Patty Burton; daughters, Brooke Collins, Kingsport, and Kristie (Joe) Alewine, Hull, GA; special nephew, Ryan (Amanda) Epps and soon to be great-niece, Caroline, Kodak, TN; grandsons, Josh, Terrance, Tyler, and Bryce Alewine; great-granddaughter, Josie Mae Alewine; sister, Kathy (Doug) Proffitt, Kingsport; brother, Ben (Linda) Collins, Gray, TN; and two special little girls, Kennedy and Klaire Burton.

The family will receive friends from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Friday at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Kingsport. The service will follow at 1:30 p.m. with Rev. Edward Davis officiating.

The graveside service will follow at East Lawn Memorial Park. Friends and family will serve as pallbearers.

Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of one's choice.
