Gary W. Simmons

Gary W. Simmons, 79, of Kingsport, went to be with the Lord on Monday, March 6, 2023 at Holston Valley Medical Center. Born in Morganton, NC, he had resided in Kingsport since 1970. Gary graduated from Tennessee Tech University with both bachelor’s and master’s degrees, in Mechanical Engineering. He retired from Eastman Chemical Company as a mechanical purchasing manager. After retirement, he fulfilled his lifelong desire to be a farmer. Gary was a member of Harmony Baptist Church.

Gary was preceded in death by his parents, Marnie and Beulah Simmons.

Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Brenda Simmons; son, Scott Simmons and wife Stephanie; two grandchildren, Hunter and Hannah Simmons; four sisters, Coila Hawkins, Marlene Campbell and husband Bill, Brenda Druelle and husband, Don and Sharon Triggs and husband Gary; and many nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be conducted on Saturday, March 11, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at Harmony Cemetery with Pastor Steve Pate officiating.
