Gary Smith

Gary L. Smith, 52, Church Hill, TN, passed away Sunday afternoon December 3, 2006 at home unexpectedly. He was born in Kingsport where he resided most of his life. Gary was a graduate of Northeast State Technical Community College. He was an employee of TVA and later at NFS in Erwin. Gary served in the U.S. Air Force.

His father, Ernest Smith, grandparents, Carl and Adra Hinson, and William and Lucinda Smith, granddaughter, Emerald Nelson, sister, Marie Funkhouser, two brothers, Ernie Marshall and Ricky Smith preceded him in death.

Surviving are two daughters, Aaron Smith and husband David Nelson, Bluff City, TN, and Becky Smith, Church Hill, TN; two grandchildren, Cole Nelson and Lilli Cagle; mother, Lena H. Smith, Church Hill, TN; five sisters, Kathy Maschke and husband George, KY; Cindy Mullins, FL; Velma Lyon and husband Jeff, VA; Joy Cox and husband Larry, Kingsport, TN, and Tonya Hamilton, MD; several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Kingsport.

Services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home with Pastor Mike Stout officiating.

Burial will follow at Old Kingsport Presbyterian Church Cemetery with military graveside rites conducted by the American Legion Post No. 3/265.
