Gay Burger Jones

Gay Burger Jones, 84, of Kingsport, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, August 4, 2013, at Preston Place II.

Born in the Fairview Community of Greeneville, TN, a daughter to the late Perry and Maymie Hulse Burger, she moved to Kingsport in the early 1960s. She was a homemaker and a member of Litz Manor Baptist Church. Gay graduated from Doak High School and worked in retail sales in Kingsport for many years. She married Carl Jones in 1950.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 37 years, Carl Jones.

Gay is survived by one daughter, Robin Jones McNeill and husband, Bob, of Stokesdale, NC; three grandchildren, Suzanne Gettys, Stephanie Aldrich, Sophie McNeill; one sister, Reba Shell, Greeneville, TN; three nieces, Janice Craighead of Richardson, TX, Johnnie, and Judy of Greeneville, TN.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, August 6, 2013, from 11:30 am to 1:30 pm at Hamlett-Dobson Chapel, Kingsport. The funeral service will follow at 1:30 pm with Dr. Rev. Danny West officiating. The graveside service will follow at Fairview Cemetery in Greeneville, TN. The Litz Manor Baptist Church Sunday School Class will serve as Honorary Pallbearers.
