Gaynell Light Mitchell

Gaynell Light Mitchell, 80, Kingsport, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, December 28, 2011 at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center following a brief illness. Gaynell had worked at Holston Valley Community Hospital for 25 years, starting in the cafeteria. After becoming an LPN she worked in the labor and delivery rooms. She then went on to work 19 years with OB/GYN Drs. Jones and Jackson. Gaynell was a member of the Apostolic Church of the Lord Jesus Christ.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jim Mitchell; parents, Oliver and Ethel Light; two sisters, Stella Mae Light and Nora Hickman; five brothers, Hobert Light, Clarence Light, Jack Light, Carmel Light and Charlie Light.

Gaynell is survived by two daughters, Jackie Hicks and husband, Mike of Kingsport, and Kim Booker of Gray; granddaughter, Nachella Crawford and husband, Kevin; three grandsons, Nakia Hicks and wife, Rachel, Shane Booker and special friend, Kasee Jones and Cody Booker and girlfriend, Emily Robinson; three great-granddaughters, Callie Crawford, Macee Hicks Starnes, and Haylee Hicks; step-great-grandson, Dylan Conkin; brother, J.C. Light and wife, Judy of Kingsport; sister, Peggy Sullivan of Kingsport; special little friends, Jake and Scoots; special friend, Pat Bernard; several nieces and nephews and her brothers and sisters in Christ.

Family will receive friends on Friday, December 30, 2011 from 5-7:00 p.m. at Hamlett-Dobson, Kingsport. Funeral services will follow at 7:00 p.m. with Elder Everette Lett and Brother Tim Lovell officiating.

Graveside services will be conducted on Saturday, December 31, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. at the First Baptist Church Cemetery of Fall Branch.

Pallbearers will be Mike Hicks, Nakia Hicks, Shane Booker, Cody Booker, Kevin Crawford and Darrell Dillard.
