Gene Ford, 69, of the Harmony Community went to be with the Lord on Sunday evening, August 12, 2007 at his home following a lengthy illness.He was born in the Harmony Community where he had been a lifelong resident. Gene was a veteran of the U. S. Army having served in the Signal Corp and was a member of Charles DeWitt Byrd Post #3382 of the VFW.Gene was an avid farmer and enjoyed taking care of his cattle. He retired from Quebecor Printing with 33 years of service.He was of the Baptist faith. His parents, Ray and Mary ?Polly? Ford; two sisters, Judy Ford and June Hartman; and two brothers, Jack Ford and Creed Ford preceded him in death. Surviving are his wife of 43 ½ years, Minnie Ford of the home; daughter, Donna Alexander, Nashville; one son, Teddy Ford, Jr. and very special daughter-in-law, Jennifer, Harmony Community; four grandchildren, Chad, Dustin, Blake, and Gina ?Baby?; one great-grandson, Brayden; three brothers, Billy Tom Ford Sr., Jonesborough, Ray E. Ford Jr. and wife, Tootie, Kingsport, and Tim Ford and wife, Wilma, Jonesborough; and several nieces and nephews. Special thanks to the Veterans Administration, Johnson City Medical Center, and his special caregiver, Nancy Sloan. Calling hours are from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Fall Branch and anytime at the home. Graveside services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Thursday at Bacon-Kincheloe Cemetery in Jonesborough with military rites conducted by the American Legion Post #3/265. Pallbearers will be Tommy Ford, Terry Ford, Jim Hartman, Jesse Ford, Ronnie Hicks, and Danny Jones. Honorary pallbearers will be Jim Langrell, Jack Ragsdale, John Charlton, Chris Jackson, and Jeff Cox.
