Geneva Marie Sue Brown

Geneva "Sue" Brown, of Kingsport, was born in Washington County, VA, on July 31, 1921, and died on Thursday, May 20, 2010, in Kingsport. She was a devoted wife and mother, a proud grandmother, and an avid gardener and cook. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Kingsport, for over 60 years.

Sue was preceded in death by her husband, J. Sam Brown, Jr., and her parents, Charles M. and Bertha Tolbert Sproles.

Surviving her are her children, Marsha Brown McNeer and husband, Tom, Brent A. Brown and wife, Susan, Abby Brown Ayers and husband, Ed, and Chris Brown and special friend, Joyce Ibold; grandchildren, Beth Brown, Tobi Brown Eyre and husband, Adri, Nathaniel Ayers, and Hannah Ayers; sister, Reba Thayer; several nieces and nephews; and her devoted caregivers, Gerrie Arnold, Ilene Allen, Jewel Guy, and Donna Carter.

A Memorial Service will be conducted on Sunday at 2:30 at First Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. Dr. David A. Cagle officiating. The family will receive friends following the service.
