George Columbus Armentrout, 88, of Jonesborough, went home to be with the Lord, Tuesday, July 28th, at NHC Nursing Home in Johnson City, Tennessee.
Born September 25th 1920 in Washington County Tennessee, George was the son of the late Hiram Daniel Armentrout and Bessie Mae Broyles Armentrout.
Mr. Armentrout was a member of Bowmantown Baptist Church and loved gardening.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Jay, Mack, Opie, and Dewell.
Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Willie Mae Mohlar Armentrout; brother, Herbert Armentrout and wife Betty of Bowmantown; two sons, George Armentrout and wife Merle of Tacoma, WA, Mark Armentrout of Johnson City; two daughters, Ginger Hood and husband Troy of Fall Branch, Rhonda Depew and husband Richard of Fall Branch; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00pm Monday at the 1st Baptist Church of Fall Branch. Services will be conducted at 7:00pm at the church with Rev. Carl Strickler officiating.
Graveside services will be held at 11:00am Tuesday at Sulphur Springs Cemetery. Family members and friends will serve as pallbearers.
