George E. Ledbetter

George E. Ledbetter, 78, passed away on Monday, October 24, 2011 at Indian Path Medical Center after a short illness.

He served his country in the U.S. Air Force, enjoyed being a farmer and for many years was the Manager of Farmer's Market in Kingsport. George was an employee of the Kingsport Press for a number of years. He was a Christian and attended Oak Grove Baptist Church, Mount Carmel.

Preceding him in death were his parents, Earl Veston and Lurley Ledbetter; sisters, Lucy Ledbetter and Jean Sheldon; nephew, Timmy Ledbetter; sister-in-law, Juanita Ledbetter; brothers-in-law, Bob Bennett and Earl Cox.

George is survived by his wife of 38 years, Jean Carpenter Ledbetter; sister, Mae Cox; brothers, William Bill Delno, Ernest Kenneth and Wayne Ledbetter; nephews, Tommy Ledbetter, David Cox, Steven and David Sheldon; great-nephews, Jonathan Ledbetter, Preston and Josh Cox, Sarah and Jonathan Sheldon; brothers-in-law/sisters-in-law, Herman and Gladys McAninch, Noonie Bennett, Jerry and Patsy Byerley, Bill and Frances Whitmore, Mickey Sheldon, and a special cousin and friend LouAnn McCulley Moore.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, October 26th 2011 from 1:00-2:00 pm at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home Chapel, Kingsport. Funeral services will follow with Dr. Randy Pressnell officiating and eulogies by his nephews, David Cox and Tommy Ledbetter. Music will be provided by Lighthouse Quartet.

Interment will follow in the McCulley Cemetery on McCulley Place.

Pallbearers will be Tommy Ledbetter, David Cox, Scott Byerley, Todd Jennings, Mike Wilson, Brent Whitmore and Stoney McAninch. Honorary pallbearers will be Tom and LouAnn McCulley Moore, William Delno Ledbetter, Ernest Kenneth Ledbetter, Wayne Ledbetter, R.K. Ledbetter, Eugene Hood and Mickey Sheldon.

Memorials may be made to the Jericho Junction Fund at Oak Grove Baptist Church in Mount Carmel, 311 Cypress Street, Mount Carmel, TN 37645.
