George McClellan "Mac" Snapp

George McClellan "Mac" Snapp, 85, Kingsport, passed away on Wednesday, September 26, 2018 at NHC Rehab after a long illness. Born on October 23, 1932, George was a 1950 graduate of Church Hill High School and served in the US Army. He retired from Mead Paper after 44 years of service and was a 32nd Degree Mason.

He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Lockie Snapp; his first wife, Betty Jane Snapp; brother, Glen Snapp; and infant brother, Jimmy.

George is survived by his wife of 27 ½ years, Mary Snapp; daughters, Sherry Snapp Ellis (Fuzz), and Valerie Snapp Sandidge (David); stepson, Greg Ware (Brenda); grandchildren, Jared Ellis (Ashley), and Jordan Sandidge; great-grandchildren, Anderson and Lainee; step-granddaughter, Madison Ware; brother, Larry Snapp (Liz); and nephews, Mark Snapp, and Kent Snapp (Tessa).

A special thanks from the Snapp family to the nurses and staff at NHC Rehab for their love and care.

The family will receive friends from 5-7:00 pm on Friday, September 28, 2018 at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Kingsport. Masonic Rites will be conducted prior to the funeral service at 7:00 pm with Rev. Gary Gerhardt officiating.

The graveside service will be held on Saturday at 11:00 am at Church Hill Memory Gardens. Military Rites will be conducted by American Legion Posts 3/265. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
