George Franklin Smith

George Franklin Smith, V, 55, of Kingsport, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, February 11, 2020, at Holston Valley Medical Center, following a lengthy illness. George was employed by Universal Machine and Tool and also the Tennessee National Guard. He was a veteran of the United States Army, having served during Operation Iraqi Freedom. George was a member of St. Dominic’s Catholic Church. He was a graduate of King University.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Judi Petti.

George is survived by his wife, Teresa Smith; two daughters, Adrian Smith and Jacy Smith; son, Michael Smith; two grandsons, Christian and Jordan; parents, George and Joyce Smith; three sisters, Jennifer Taylor and husband Eric; Terri Finley, and Bobbi Camaratta and husband Doug; four brothers, David Smith and wife Ruth, Victor Forster and wife Shirley, Bill Forster, and Tony Forster and wife Wendy; and several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Monday, February 17, 2020, at St. Dominic’s Catholic Church. The funeral mass will follow at 1 p.m. with Father Michael Cummins officiating.

Burial will follow at Lovelace Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery. Military Rites to be conducted by The American Legion Posts 3/265.

Pallbearers will be family and friends.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
