George Thomas Szabo, 33, of Kingsport, passed away on February 28, 2011. He was born on January 25, 1978 in Boynton Beach, FL. He grew up in Kingsport where he attended Dobyns-Bennett High School, receiving his diploma in 1996. George continued his education at Northeast State and East Tennessee State University where he pursued knowledge as an automotive technician. He received the ASE Master Technician certification in 2010. George utilized his skills alongside his father in operation of the family's automotive business. On Oct. 10, 2001, George married his best friend, Angie Grizzle-Honaker. George was a devoted husband, father, brother and son.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Thomas E. Beasley.
George is survived by his wife, Angie Szabo; their children, Chaz Honaker and wife Ashley, Cody Honaker, and Carrigan Honaker; grandchildren, Cadence and Callie Honaker; his parents George R. and Laurel Szabo; his siblings Amy Szabo, Geoffrey Szabo and wife Megan, and Gregory Szabo and wife Rosie, all of Kingsport, TN; brother-in-law Wayne Grizzle; mother and father-in-law, Sandy and Hollis Grizzle; and nieces Hillary and Courtney Grizzle, all of Clinchport, VA.
The family will receive friends Saturday, March 5, 2011 from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Kingsport. Funeral services will follow at 3:00 p.m. with Rev. Larry Anderson officiating.
Honorary pallbearers will be Geoffrey Szabo, Greg Szabo, Wayne Grizzle, Ted Young, Tyler Ketron, Phil Bloom, and Carl Beasley.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in George's honor to the Salvation Army, 505 Dale Street, Kingsport, TN 37660.
