George C. Vaughn, 87, of Kingsport, passed away on Wednesday, November 17, 2010, at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center following a brief illness.
A native of Hawkins County, he has lived in this area most of his life. He proudly served his country in the United States Army during World War II, in the European Theatre. He was a carpenter by trade.
George was preceded in death by his parents Will and Delilah Vaughn, five brothers, four sisters and his son-in-law Randy Faust.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Vernie Collins Vaughn; four daughters: Brenda Mounger and husband Roy of Gloucester, VA., Lola Faust and husband Gaines of Kingsport, Marie Adams and husband Kenny of Kingsport and Debbie Faust of Kingsport; two sons: Grady Vaughn and wife Lee of Kingsport and Wayne Vaughn of Kingsport; eleven grandchildren, eighteen great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation for family and friends will be from 2:00-5:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 21, 2010 at Hamlett-Dobson, Kingsport. Services will begin at 5:00 p.m. with Pastor David Salley officiating.
Graveside services will be held at Mountain Home National Cemetery on Monday, November 22, at 11:00 a.m. Military rites will be conducted by the American Legion Posts 3/265.
