George K Wells

George K. Wells, 81, of the Bloomingdale community of Kingsport went home to be with the Lord Tuesday, December 9, 2008, at his home surrounded by his family.

He served two tours in the United States Navy during World War II and the Korean Conflict and was a member of the V.F.W. George worked over 25 years at Mason Dixon, was a Job Steward for the Local Teamsters #549, enjoyed hunting and fishing, and loved to travel through the mountains.

Preceding him in death were his parents, Arthur James Wells Sr. and Ella Belle Crosswhite Wells; his first wife, Phyllis Perry Wells; three sisters, Anna Mae Harkleroad, Mary Forbes, and Lola Davis; and one brother, James J.W. Wells.

Surviving are his wife of 24 years, Anna Chapman Wells of the home; one daughter, Sherry Marsh and husband Jim of Mt. Carmel; one son, Michael Chapman and wife Peggy of Kingsport; two grandsons, Zackary and Joel; two granddaughters, Kristi Rutledge and husband Steve, Shannon Brown and husband Mike; three great-grandchildren, Lexi, Kelsey, and Lili; one sister, Jeri Deal of Kingsport; one brother, Arthur Wells Jr. and wife Betty of Kingsport; and several nieces and nephews.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to Team 2 of Wellmont Hospice and Dr. Krcal for their special care.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Homes, Kingsport. Funeral services will follow at 7:30 p.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Stanley Sims officiating.

Graveside services will be conducted at 11:30 a.m. Thursday at Oak Hill Memorial Park.
Pallbearers will be John Panter, Ronnie Sholes, Mike Roberts, Brian Monroe, Freddy Middleton, and Michael Middleton.
