Georgia B. Ward

Georgia B Ward of Kingsport, TN went to be with the Lord on Friday, June 8, 2018. She
was born in Scott County, Virginia to Emit and Ollie Bledsoe. She was married to Mason Ward and they resided in Kingsport, TN until his death in 1985. Georgia worked in several jobs over the years including the Tennessee Eastman Company, J Fred Johnson Department Store, Miller's Department Store, Heritage Federal Bank and Mountain Region Speech and Hearing Center. She volunteered as an Ambassador for the Kingsport Visitors Bureau for many years. Georgia was a longtime member of Kingsport Community Church on Memorial Boulevard and could be seen riding her scooter to church services on Sunday mornings. She took many trips with her church friends and enjoyed the fellowship and friendships she developed there. Georgia loved life and enjoyed talking with people and she never met a stranger, they all became her friend.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Mason Ward and sisters Stella Moore, Evie Hubbard, Della Vanzant, Ruth Moore and one brother Bruce Bledsoe. Also, preceding her was her fiancé Charles Chase.

Survivors include one son Dennis W Ward and wife Debbie, previously of Kingsport, grandchildren Andrew J Ward (Holly) of Kingsport, and Susan Ward Smith (Morgan) of Gulfport, MS, and great-granddaughters Makayla B Ward and Jessica K Smith. She had many nieces and nephews and was loved by so many family members and friends over the years.

Special thanks to her good friend and neighbor Roger Smith and to a very special great -niece Debi Range for all their love and care during the last few years of Georgia's life. Special mention to Dr. Christopher Metzger for his excellent interventions and medical care over the years. She considered him a good friend as well as her doctor. Many thanks to Embrace Hospice of Myrtle Beach, SC for their wonderful care and compassion during the last three months.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, June 14 from 11am to 1pm in the Hamlett-Dobson Chapel. The funeral service will follow at 1:00 pm with Pastor Ron Lowe and Rev. Mark Stayton officiating with the entombment at Oak Hill Cemetery immediately after.
