Georgia Anna Burkhardt Charlton, 89, Kingsport, passed away at her home Saturday December 5, 2009 following a lengthy illness.
Georgia had lived in the Sullivan Gardens area for the past 60 years. She was a Christian and a member of Sullivan Baptist Church. Mrs. Charlton was very active in her Adult Women's Sunday School class and sung in the choir.
She enjoyed sewing, golfing, and tending to her garden.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John T. Charlton; parents, John and Hannah Burkhardt; brothers, June and Clyde Burkhardt; and sisters, Gaye Dunham, Betty Sells, and Willie Welcher.
Survivors include her daughter, Cathy Lane; sons and daughters-in-law, John D. and Marilyn Charlton, David S. and Barbara Charlton, and Phillip and Judy Charlton; seven grandchildren, Daniel Campbell, John A. Charlton, David L. Charlton, Nicholas Charlton, Toni C. Manship, Joy C. Martin, and Sandy C. Ward; six great-grandchildren; brothers, Paul Burkhardt, VA and Bobby Burkhardt, OR; and a sister, Iva Jordan, NC.
The family will receive friends Wednesday from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Homes, Fall Branch. Services will be at 7:00 p.m. with Pastor Jeff Strong and Rev. Jesse Wooten.
Graveside services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Thursday at Lovelace Baptist Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Daniel Campbell, John A. Charlton, Jason Ward, Nicholas Charlton, David L. Charlton, and Mason Manship.
