Gerald Renfro, 71, of Kingsport, passed away Wednesday, March 10, 2010, after an extended illness. He was a lifelong resident of Kingsport. He served in the U.S. Army for three years. He retired from the Kingsport Press after working many years. He was a member and deacon of Glenwood Baptist Church. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather, and was loved by all.
Gerald was preceded in death by his parents, Claude Renfro and Francis Cheatham;
brothers Wallace Renfro and Darrell Renfro; and a sister, Michelle Cheatham.
He is survived by his wife of 25 years, Peggy Renfro; four sons, Lanie Renfro and wife, Karen, James Hyatt and wife Missy, Jack Hyatt, and Jeffery Hyatt, all of Kingsport; nine grandchildren, Joseph, Angelina, Damien, Stephanie, Ashlyn, Joshua, Amelia, Jillian, and Carter; brothers Stan Pippin and wife, Nancy, and Steve Cheatham and wife Laura, all of Knoxville; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends at Glenwood Baptist Church on Saturday from 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Services will be conducted at 12:30, with Pastor Charles Roberts officiating.
Interment will follow at Eastlawn Memorial Park with Rev. Danny Dockery officiating. Serving as pallbearers will be Fred Hill, Roger Sensabaugh, Joel Williams, Marc Logan, Lanie Renfro, Jack Hyatt. Honorary pallbearers are Erik Logan and the Deacons of Glenwood Baptist Church.
