Gerry Wayne Gilbert

Gerry Wayne Gilbert, 59, passed away on Monday, October 3, 2016. Gerry was born April 6, 1957, in Kingsport, Tennessee, a son of the late Kenneth Gilbert and Virginia Snead Mitchell. Gerry was a lifetime resident of Kingsport, Tennessee and 1975 graduate of Dobyns-Bennett High School and North Eastern State Tech. He was a member of Glenwood Baptist Church.

Gerry is survived by his brother, Zan Gilbert and wife Terri of Knoxville, Tennessee; several aunts, an uncle, cousins, and his faithful dog, Shadow.

The family will receive friends from 12 to 1 p.m. on Wednesday, October 5, 2016 at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home Kingsport. The memorial service will follow at 1 p.m. with Dr. Tiger Brooks officiating.

Honoring Gerry's wishes, he will be cremated.

The family would like to express a special thank you to the doctors and nursing staff of Holston Valley Medical Center, Amedisys Hospice, and members of Glenwood Baptist Church as well as Haskel Jones, Wayne, and Melissa Sherfey, and Paige Goforth for all the love and care shown to Gerry during his illness.
