Gertie Williams

Gertie Williams passed away on Tuesday, March 27th, 2012 after a courageous four year battle with cancer. She was the beloved daughter of Pollard and Georgia Williams, who preceded her in death. Also, preceding her was one brother, Clayton. Gertie was a very special individual who touched everyone who knew her. She attended Pentecost Independent Freewill Baptist Church in Rock Springs who loved her extended family and her church family. Gertie especially enjoyed singing in the choir at church and listening to recorded gospel music.

Left to cherish her memory are three brothers, Johnnie and wife, Cindy, Darrell and wife, Pat, and R.L. and wife, Patsy; two sisters, Kay Light and husband, J.D., and Delores Suzie Egan and husband, Zane; five nieces, Amanda, Amber, Gail, Heather and Teresa; six nephews, Anthony, Clint, David, Jason, Jeff and John; four great-nieces, Caroline, Taylor, Willa and Zoey; five great-nephews, Carlton, Conner, Eli, Myles and Owen; and her telephone "buddies", Toots, Sally, Nancy and Billie.

The family will receive friends Thursday, March 29th from 5-7:00 pm at Hamlett-Dobson, Fall Branch. Funeral services will follow at 7:00 pm with Pastor Eddie McAmis and Rev. Darrell Williams officiating.

Graveside services will be conducted on Friday, March 30th at 1:00 pm at Tri-Cities Memory Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to her church or to the American Cancer Society 508 Princeton Road, Suite 102, Johnson City, TN 37601.

The family wishes to convey special thanks to Marco DaSilva, M.D., his nurse, Betty and all the caring oncology nurses that assisted in her battle with cancer. A heartfelt "thank you" to Amedisys Hospice nurses, Sandra Nadeau and Brooke Fisher.
