Gladys Florine Copas

Gladys Florine Copas, Age 93, of Kingsport, Tennessee went to be with the Lord on Sunday, May 24, 2020 at Life Care Center of Gray.  Born in Washington County, TN, she had resided in the Eastern Star Community most of her life and was a member of Eastern Star Freewill Baptist Church for more than 60 years. She was a graduate of Sulphur Springs High School.  Gladys was a homemaker and avid reader.  She loved quilting, working in the garden and growing flowers.

Gladys was preceded in death by her parents, Zeb and Martha Shepherd; two brothers, Willie and Z.M. Shepherd; husband, Oscar Verlin Copas; two sons, Larry David Copas and Ricky Lynn Copas; and son-in-law, Gary Lee Burleson.

Gladys is survived by her son, Billy Martin Copas and wife Deborah Diane; daughter-in-law, Vickie Lynn Copas; daughter, Candice Renee Burleson; son, Gary Randall Copas and wife Connie Sue; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to her caregivers at Life Care Center of Gray.

A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 27, 2020 at Eastern Star Freewill Baptist Cemetery with Pastor Kevin Rose officiating. 

Pallbearers will be Bill Copas, Shaun Copas, Brandon Burleson, Jeremy Copas, Michael David Spears and Matthew Copas.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Eastern Star Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, 153 Eastern Star Ext, Kingsport, TN 37663.
