Gladys Maddox, 89, passed away on March 12, 2024, surrounded by her family. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bobby Maddox; son Freddie Biggs; grandsons Clint and Josh Norris; sisters Marie Greer, Geneva Turner, and Thelma Brown.

 

Born on May 29, 1934 in Cutshin, KY she was the daughter of the late Roy and Ollie Mae Baker. Affectionately called “Granny Gladys”, she lived a long and fulfilling life, leaving behind a legacy of love, kindness, and resilience.

 

Throughout her years, Gladys touched the lives of many. Whether she was tending to her flowers, cooking delicious meals (especially her gravy and biscuits), or sharing stories of her childhood, she had a gentle way of making everyone around her feel special and loved. Her presence brought comfort to those around her, and she had a smile that was contagious.

 

Gladys is survived by her son Aaron Norris and wife Vicki; brothers Roy Baker, Jr. and wife Phyllis, Archie Baker and wife Geraldean; 7 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild; along with several nieces and nephews. She will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

 

She will be laid to rest on March 18, 2024 at 1:00 at the Mountain Home National Cemetery, 215 Heroes Drive, Mountain Home, TN 37684.
