Gladys E. Paladino, 107, of Kingsport, passed away peacefully Saturday, January 26, 2019. She was born in Frostburg, MD on September 14, 1911, a daughter of the late George and Lena Setz Slezak. She has resided in Kingsport since 1992 when she moved from Cumberland, MD to be near her daughter. Married to Benjamin J. Paladino for almost sixty years, she will be remembered as a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend. She had a love, and deep compassion for all animals and enjoyed sewing, needlework, gardening and reading.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Benjamin J. Paladino; great-grandson, Benjamin Reosti; three sisters; and two brothers.
Gladys is survived by her daughter, Jean McCort and husband Nelden “Chuck” of Kingsport; four grandchildren, Jennifer Reosti and husband Tony of Columbia, SC, Suzanne Midha and husband Yatesh of Raleigh, NC, Holly McCort and husband Jon Countess of Knoxville, and Mary Reed and husband Derrick of Charlotte, NC; 11 great grandchildren; Sophia, Olivia, Anna, Jack, Therese, and Peter Reosti, Grace and Maddie Midha, Hazel Countess, and Raleigh and Owen Reed; special niece, Beverly Vinisky.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to her faithful caregivers, Ilene Allen, Deloris Collins, Regina Crawford, and Sophia Reosti.
Funeral services will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, February 1, 2019, at St. Dominic Catholic Church with Father Michael Cummins officiating. Inurnment will follow in the church columbarium. A reception of friends will follow at the church.
