Gladys Eastep Shipley

Gladys Eastep Shipley, 79, of Limestone, Tennessee, went home to be with the Lord Wednesday, January 14, 2009, at her home.

She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. Gladys loved the Lord and was a born again Christian- saved when she was around 12 years old. She had a great love and concern for her family, friends, neighbors, and stray animals.

Preceding her in death were her parents, J. M. and Dona Eastep; three brothers, Haskell, Ralph, and Carl Eastep; and three sisters, Ruth Morelock, Erma Morelock, and Mable Hicks.

Surviving are her husband of 56 years, Ben Shipley of Limestone; one daughter, Donna Lowe Shipley of Stephens City, Virginia; one son, Joel Shipley and wife Celeste of Carmel, New York; four grandchildren, Jason Lowe and wife Amanda of Gray, Tennessee, April Lowe of Stephens City, Virginia, Carissa and Jenna Shipley of Carmel, New York; one great-grandchild, Leighanne Lowe of Gray; one son-in-law, John Lowe of Manassas, Virginia; one sister, Eunice Jones of Limestone; one sister-in-law, Helen Eastep of Limestone; and several nieces and nephews. The family sends a special thanks to Cecilia.

Graveside services will be conducted at Pleasant Grove Cemetery Saturday, January 17, 2009, at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Doran Barnett officiating. Pallbearers will be Chris Egnor, Charles Eastep, John Lowe, Dusty Stroud, Mike Bales, and Carlos Lowe.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests all memorial contributions be made to Cherry Hill Freewill Baptist Church, 877 Providence Road, Limestone, TN 37681.
