Glen ?Sarge? Barrett, 76, Kingsport, went to be with the Lord on Friday, January 12, 2007 at Brookhaven Manor following a lengthy illness.
Born in Hawkins County, Glen had resided in Kingsport since 1959. He worked for 45 years for Auto Paint & Auto Parts as a delivery driver.
Glen was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church and has many rewards in Heaven for him. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, brother, and uncle. When his wife lost her eyesight, he learned how to cook and clean and even took her to work with him until he was 69 years old.
Glen will always be remembered for his love for his family and many friends that have known him.
His wife, Ruth Barrett preceded him in death.
Surviving are three sons, Robert Barrett and wife, Donna of Mebane, NC, Eddie Barrett and wife, Sandra of Kingsport, and Mike Barrett of Bristol, TN; four grandchildren, Tammie Frazier and husband, Ray, April Barrett, Michael Barrett, and Michala Barrett; one sister, Sylvia Patterson of Rogersville; one brother, Ples Barrett of Kingsport; and several nieces and nephews.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to Adventa Hospice and Brookhaven Manor for their love and care they gave to Glen during his illness.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Kingsport.
Services will be conducted at 4 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home with Pastor David Powers and Pastor Brian Schuler officiating. Music will be provided by Joy Adinolfi, Melanie Adinolfi, and Judy Campbell.
Graveside services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday at Liberty Hill Cemetery. Those wishing to attend the graveside services will meet at the funeral home at 10 a.m. Monday to go in procession.
Pallbearers will be Robert Truman Messick, Charles Ball, David Ball, Larry Ball, Matt Ball, and Josh Ball.
